Neurologist and Neurosurgeons Accredited by HMO

You probably do not worry about medical expenses since you have a health card. But what if you have symptoms on nerves, the brain and spinal cord? Find out more details whether a neuro doctor is covered.

What Hmo Type Is Right For You?

Select one of the following options:

Are Neurologists and Neurosurgeons Covered by HMO?

Most Neurologists and Neurosurgeons do not have affiliations with HMOs. There is an existing policy in their association that requires them to be independent of health card companies.

Some speculations say that it is due to the late reimbursement of companies. This article by EastWest Healthcare proves that there is a general disregard for HMOs among this type of specialists.

Neurologists That Accept HMO

We have found some doctors with active HMO affiliations. In one hospital in Quezon City, there is a list of neurologists and neurosurgeons who appear to have a list of health cards under their profile.

Health cards will reimburse the money to you after initially paying the doctor out of your pocket. It only shows that HMOs are committed to providing members quality service.

I also had to consult a neurologist due to headaches but the doctor’s secretary did not even ask about HMO. So I guess there really is a limitation when it comes to these specialists.

How About Surgeries?

If you need to undergo surgery, you can still use your health plan to cover surgical costs, operating room, diagnostic tests and the usual room and accommodation expenses. However, you may need to pay the doctor’s fee in cash. Don’t worry since you will be covered by Philhealth if you are a member.

If you want to save more on hospitalization, why don’t you get a quote from public hospitals? They are able to provide quality services but at reasonable costs. In fact, one of our team has availed brain surgery at PGH with minimal expenses.

But note that these facilities will require you to get an appointment due to the number of patients they attend to everyday.
