Video About HMO Options

HMO companies usually charge on a yearly basis. This setup ensures that the individual member will get the optimum benefit within the covered time frame without worrying about missed payments.

Where can I use my health card?

One thing that we noticed among HMOs is that annual rates are also based on the hospitals they are partnered with. If your preferred plan included the “top 6” hospitals, then you have better options on where to get medical service from. In most HMO companies, the top 6 hospitals include:

  • St. Luke’s Medical Center QC
  • St. Luke’s Medical Center BGC
  • Cardinal Santos Medical Center
  • Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa
  • Makati Medical Center
  • Medical City

The inclusion of these hospitals in any health plan will result in a higher price per year of coverage. For some HMOs, the hospitals are included in their network by default.

Does age affect the price of HMO plans?

We also see many companies divide their categories of fees according to the age of the member/applicant. The older the person is, the higher the yearly membership fee. This is understandable since they are more prone to having health problems.

It is advisable that you consider an HMO with accredited hospitals within your place of residence or work to avail medical service conveniently.

Will I get dental cleaning coverage?

Moreover, having an option for dental coverage will also increase your yearly rate. If you think you will benefit from oral prophylaxis and dental filling, then you may select the option upon applying.

Don’t have the budget for an annual payment? Look for a prepaid health card. Just like your phone load, you can actually buy prepaid coverage according to your preferred benefits. Most of the companies presented here have their prepaid plans available for the budget conscious.

If you are not yet ready to get an HMO, I suggest that you first compare the price for each plan that suits you. This way, you can maximize your money and get the best benefits.

It took me about 2 months to decide which health card is the best for my needs. I considered my age, budget and nearby accredited hospitals to maximize the product just in case.

Since most plans involve an annual fee, the companies have designated payment channels for convenience. You may pay through e-wallet, credit card or cash at any of the HMO offices of your choice. We understand that annual rates more than Php 20,000 can be too expensive for a regular employee.

The good news is that you can actually apply for installment payment plans. Using your credit card, simply convert the straight payment amount into monthly rates. Of course, there is a minimum add on interest but it would be more convenient.
