If we are to see the recent report about causes of death, heart disease tops the chart with 19% of total deaths according to Philippine News Agency’s report. It is best to find an HMO accredited cardiologist to have a consultation.
What Hmo Type Is Right For You?
Select one of the following options:
Where to Find a Cardiologist
Since you probably have an existing health card, all you need to do is see the list of doctors for the heart in your preferred hospital.
Etiga
If you are an Etiqa health card holder, you may also look for a cardiologist from your preferred hospital. Use the company’s search list to find a doctor near you.
Maxicare
As one of the leading HMOs in the country, you can expect the company to have an extensive network of cardiologists. Find one using their directory
Medicard
With Medicard, you can use your health card to cover the consultation fee with a doctor for the heart. You may use the company’s list of doctor portal to see which one is near your location.
HMO Accredited Cardiologist
In the Philippines, HMO accredited cardiologists are available for consultation. However, even those with surgery expertise may have an affiliation with some of the popular health cards in the country.
Consultation Fee Coverage
A lot of the popular health cards can cover the check up fee of a cardiologist. You do not need to pay anything as long as you have processed the transaction at the counter. Usually, clinic secretaries will also ask for your card before the transaction.
Some health cards may only cover the consultation of a doctor up to a certain amount. For example, a plan from Medicard will provide a flat rate of Php 350 per consultation on other types of doctors not included in their list of accredited professionals in the plan.
Medical Tests
A cardiologist may require heart diagnostic tests especially if you have symptoms that need proper evaluation. To diagnose what your problem is, the doctor may request any of the following:
- 2D Echo
- Angiogram
- MRI
- ECG
Note that many medical tests covered by HMO may have a limit. If the accredited doctor has recommended it, full coverage is possible. However, some health cards may impose a limit for highly specialized tests like MRI or CT scan. In this case, the coverage will only be Php 5,000 to Php 10,000 depending on the HMO.
Summary
Cardiologists with HMO are easy to find among hospitals in the Philippines. Just bring your card and you may do a walk-in consultation provided that a doctor is available in a given time.
